Hospitality Events 1. HFTI to be held in Mumbai from Sept. 29 - Oct 1 Rashmi Pradhan, Hosptality Biz Hospitality, Food & Tourism India (HFTI), a first of its kind hospitality trade exhibition being organised by Hotel and Restaurant Association (Western India) (HRAWI), will be held between September 29 and October 1, 2011 at Nehru Centre, Worli in Mumbai. The event aims to create a common platform for hospitality sourcing and an opportunity for industry professionals to stay abreast with recent developments and latest innovations. Speaking about the exhibition, Kamlesh Barot, President, HRAWI said, “We used to organise exhibitions at Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India and at our regional conventions and also exhibit either at exhibitions organised by trade magazines or suppliers. Hence, we thought of creating an exhibition of our Association and a forum wherein hotels, restaurants, suppliers, catering college, travel trade and tourism can come under one umbrella and interact among themselves.” Elaborating on the exhibition, Jimmy Shaw, Chairman, HFTI said, “The exhibition will be a common platform for hotels, restaurants, equipment suppliers, catering colleges and service providers like credit card, financial institutes, insurance companies to interact and exchange their views and opinions. These service provides will assist hotels for their different services being provided by them. In the first year of the exhibition, we target to have 150 exhibitors. In addition, we have member states as partner states wherein they could talk about tourism and potential destinations in their respective states. Also, there will be private and government hotel management institutes taking part in the exhibition.” The first two days of the exhibition will be strictly open for trade and on the third day it will remain open for the consumers. On the last day, there will be a networking dinner organised for the exhibitors to help them interact with the hoteliers. Apart from the exhibition, there will be workshops and seminars at HFTI. “We will have seminars and concurrent workshops. The seminars will be on sales, marketing, up-scaling techniques, revenue management, food and beverage and a workshop will be organised by international companies. However, the dates will be finalised in a months time,” added Shaw. HRAWI has members from four states and two Union Territories, who will remain present at HFTI. “Since there will be delegates from outside Mumbai, we are in the process of tying up with hotels to offer special rates to our members,” Shaw informed.
